Allenwood Celtic travelled to Sportslink FC today, where Allenwood Celtic came away with a 2-1 win in what was an excellent game of soccer from both sides. The visitors settled in nicely early on creating some good passages of play, creating some half chances.
Against the run of play after seven minutes Sportlink intercepted a ball inside their own half and their striker made no mistake sending the ball to the top corner to put the home side 1-0 up.
Five minutes later Sportslink FC had a corner but it was well defended by Allenwood Celtic.
Allenwood were under a bit of pressure at this point but excellent defending from Lisa Moore, Claire Ivers, Mandy Moore and Debbie Casey kept Sportslink FC at bay.
On the 23rd minute, some great one touch football by Kateyln Ivers Magee, and Grainne Stafford ended up with a through ball to Aoife Stafford who slotted the ball away to make it 1-1. The game was end to end with both defensives working very well. Both sides went in at the break with a score a piece and all to play for.
The second half commenced and four minutes in Sportslink FC created a great chance but some great defending by Allenwood Celtic kept the score 1-1. On the 52nd minute Allenwood Celtic were through and Emma Swords saw her shot saved. The game ebbed and flow until the 67th minute when the impressive Emma Swords was through again, Emma squared the ball to Kateyln Ivers Magee, but Kateyln's shot was blocked by Sportslink FC defender. With five minutes remaining Kateyln Ivers Magee made a great run down the wing and put a pass to the on rushing Emma Swords who took her time and slotted away the finish to put Allenwood Celtic 1-2 up. On the 87th minute Emma Swords was through again and another fine save was made by the Sportslink FC netminder. Best for the Kildare League side were, Lisa Moore, Claire Ivers, Mandy Moore, Debbie Casey, Aoife Stafford and Grainne Stafford.
