FAI Junior Cup Action !

Clane United FC 2 Ballinahown FC 1

Clane United FC progressed to round 3 of the FAI Junior Cup with this hard earned 2-1 home victory over CCFL side Ballinahown FC. The home side started well playing some nice football but without really troubling the Westmeath visitors keepers . The away side came into the game after the first fifteen minutes as the first half continued without either side really threatening to break the deadlock until the thirty fifth min as a swift counter attack from Ballinhown resulted in the opening goal and to go into the break a goal up . The home side started the second half on the front front and began to dominate the game with killian Pathchell and Ciarian Kelly in midfield but we’re finding it hard to break down a strong defence . On the hour mark Sean Harnett broke down the right flank and pulled a ball back across for the on coming dean Commisky to level the game . Clane continued to push and got their deserved winner with four minutes remaining as Gavin o Dwyer headed back across the goal from a corner possibly going in but captain Jack Kelly made sure. Andy brogan forced a fine save from the keeper in injury time. Best for Clane in all round impressive performance Ciarian Kelly, Jack Kelly and Killian Patchell .
