League Action !

Arlington FC 0 Clane United FC 9

Clane travelled to Arlington to try to secure there first senior league title . The home side were massively under strength and held firm until the twentieth minute due to some blocks and fantastic saves from Evan Grattan in the home goal as Nathan Carr found the top corner from just inside the box to put the visitors 1-0 up .  The goal settled Clane down and they started to create chance after chance only for Grattan to deny Clane time and time again .  Hyland made it 2 on the half hour  and Carr struck again soon after to put Clane ahead 3 nil ahead at half time .  The second half continued in the same vein with Grattan making great stops but Clane added six more goals through Carr for his  Hatrick, Ralph twice, Deane, Kirwan and Mark Kelly to run out 9 0 winners .

Naas United FC 3 Rathangan AFC 1

Naas United seniors played host to Rathangan  in Monread Park on Sunday morning looking for a big three points to keep them top of the senior division .The home side came flying out of the box and should have scored in the first minute but Paul Omoteso curled  his shot wide after brilliant work from Daragh Faherty .Faherty was a constant threat down the Naas left wing and he set up his brother Niall after five minutes but the striker missed the opportunity. Naas didn’t have to wait much longer though and a great strike from twenty yards by centre half Rox Higgins eluded the Rathangan keeper to put Naas one up .The home side should have scored again one minutes later but Omoteso missed another great opportunity after good play from Niall Faherty. It was Faherty who did eventually score Naas's second when he finished well after being put through by a Sammy Omoteso through ball .Rathangan though pulled a goal back after a defensive error from Naas was finished brilliantly off the underside of the bar by the Rathangan centre forward and the game stayed 2-1 at the half time break .Naas dominated the second half again but couldn't get the all important third until the returning Stephen French was brought on and after just five minutes he finished cooly from a great Paul Omoteso pass to wrap the points up for United . Best for Naas were Keith Higgins, Victor Oladapo, Stephen French and man of the match Niall Faherty.
