Wicklow Town FC 3 Clane United FC 4
Clane started slow showing signs of the aftermath of a birthday party the previous evening. The home side capitalised and took the lead after after twenty minutes. Clane woke up after that and went close twice through Scott Britton played in by Aidan’ Ralph on both occasions. The equaliser arrived on the half hour mark as Ben Kirwin struck from twenty five yards and found the top corner . Aidan Ralph gave Clane the lead five minutes later blasting home from the right side giving the keeper no chance. A lead which the visitors held to the break. The home side came out strong in the second half aided by a strong wind and scored the next two goals to go 3- 2 up with Clane failing to take their chances are were punished as they fell behind. With the introduction of Jack Kelly, Liam Deane, Andrew Hyland and James Ralph gave Clane fresh impetus for the last half hour. Aidan Ralph played in his brother James to level the game with ten minutes remaining. Clane pushing for the winner which duly arrived on 90 minutes as Dean Comiskey scored a late winner. Best for the Kildare side were Aidan Ralph, Gavin O Dwyer, Dean Comiskey and Cathal Geoghegan.
Arlington FC 0 Newtown Rangers FC 3
Arlington welcomed Newtown Rangers to Castle Park today for the 2pm kick off of rthe second round of the LFA junior cup tie. Newtown where the first with a chance when there was a small bit of mix up when Arlington tried to clear, but got it under control. Arlington with the next chance from corner, applying pressure with the wind at their back and were giving Newtown plenty to do. On the thirteenth minute Robbie McNeil played a super ball through to Arlington's number 9 Ben McEvoy who just puts it wide, Arlington on top at this point however on the twenty fifth minute Newtown broke the deadlock when the Arlington keeper came for the ball only for Newtown's number 7 S.Carroll to lift it over him making it 1-0 to Newtown and five minutes later Newtown get a corner but with some confusion at the front post where two Arlington players went for the same ball and neither getting it allowing Newtown's number 10 R.Molloy in and slotting it past the Arlington keeper.
Arlington needed to shift up a gear now if they were to get anything out of this game, but had it hard in the second half with a very strong wind in their faces. Both teams having their fair share of possession but it was Newtown on the 65th minute who got the next goal, when they came down the right, with the ball played across the box and made it's way to the back post where Newtown's C Leigh had an easy tap to make it 3-0 to the Dublin outfit. Best for Arlington on the day were Evan Grattan in goal.
Clonmullion FC 4 Marks Celtic FC 0
Clonmullion hosted Leinster Senior League side Marks Celtic from Tallaght in this LFA Junior Cup tie in a very blustery Micheál O Neill Park. Playing with a gale Nathan Robinson opened the scoring directly from a corner in the 12th minute. Cody Mulhall made it 2 nil with a direct free kick from all of thirty yards in the twentieth minute and it remained 2 nil until the break.
Clonmullion played a very patient possession game in the second half against the wind and were rewarded in the sixty second minute when the industrious Chris Chanders was taken down inside the box and the referee pointed to the spot. Cody Mulhall stepped up and slotted home confidently sending the keeper the wrong way. The home side made it 4-0 after a flowing move involving Garry Comerford and Jody Dillon who picked out Ceilum Maher who fired low to the net with 5 minutes remaining.
Coill Dubh AFC 1 Forth Celtic FC 2
Coill Dubh exited the LFA Junior Cup following their narrow 2-1 defeat at the hands of Wexford League side Forth Celtic. Coill Dubh’s goal coming from Jamie Gartland. The winning goals coming in the dying minutes of the game.
Monread FC 4 Rathangan AFC 0
Rathangan went down 4-0 to LSL side Monread FC at Monread Park.
